Overview

First Impression is a portfolio and case-study system created for designers who need more than a visually polished homepage. The idea was to give designers a structured way to present themselves, their work, and the thinking behind their projects without starting every portfolio from scratch.

The system was designed around the first few moments of a portfolio visit — helping the work become clear quickly while leaving enough room for detailed storytelling further into the site.

The Challenge

Portfolio templates often look impressive in a preview but become restrictive once real projects and case studies are added. Different projects need different amounts of information, imagery, and narrative structure, so the system needed to remain flexible without becoming visually inconsistent.

The challenge was to create a framework that could support both a strong first impression and deeper case-study storytelling.

The Solution

I designed First Impression as a reusable portfolio and case-study system with a structured homepage, flexible project presentation, and dedicated case-study layouts.

The system includes multiple case-study variants so designers can choose a presentation that suits the project rather than forcing every case study into the same format.

The visual system focuses on strong typography, clear hierarchy, deliberate spacing, and reusable components so the designer's work remains the primary focus.

First Impression became one of my early digital products for the Framer ecosystem, extending my work from designing individual websites into designing reusable systems that other designers could adapt for their own portfolios.

It also established the foundation for my continued exploration of portfolio templates and digital products.
